Donation of School Supplies to Children in Sri Lanka
Every December, during the Christmas season, we organize a project to donate school bags and supplies to children from low-income families in Sri Lanka. With the guidance of the master of Bhante Pemaratana and the support of local volunteers, we identify students most in need. Each school bag is carefully prepared with the necessary stationery, tailored to the child’s grade level, and sufficient for the entire academic year. Our goal is to help these children pursue their education without unnecessary hardship.
You can be part of this meaningful cause by sponsoring one or more children. If you are subscribed to our mailing list, you will receive an email about this project each November.
Support Sripathi Children Homes in Sri Lanka
The home monastery of Bhante Pemaratana in Sri Lanka takes care of two children’s homes: Sripathi Home for Boys and Sripathi Home for Girls. These homes provide shelter for children between the ages of 7 and 17, many of whom come from broken families, face extreme poverty, or have lost their parents. The children attend the nearby public school for their education and are also supported with food, clothing, stationery, and medicine, along with extra tuition and vocational training. We assist with the smooth operation of these homes, and you can support them by sponsoring a meal on your birthday or anniversary, or by contributing to their vocational training programs. For more details, please consult Bhante Pemaratana.
Visiting Senior Citizens in Assisted Living Facilities
We organize visits to local nursing homes to share our care and love with senior citizens. During these visits, we bring gifts and handmade cards from our children, offer chanting and meditation sessions, and spend time listening to the residents and answering their questions about meditation. We warmly invite you to join these visits—both to share kindness with seniors and to learn from their wisdom and experiences.
Supporting local food banks
Three times a year—in March, August, and November—we collect non-perishable food items and essentials such as baby diapers and laundry detergent to support our local food banks. We warmly invite you to take part in this community support project.
